CURRENT RESEARCH ACTIVITY
1 Fragility fractures of the hip. A prospective randomized intervention trial. The study compares control (letter group) with four interventions.
Status: Study started February 2017, 200 patients enrolled. Expected completion January 2019.
- Chronic tennis elbow injection with hyaluronic acid. This two-part study includes a retrospective review of over 50 cases since 2011. The prospective study is randomized, placebo controlled and patient-blinded. Status: The study has 26 patients enrolled with 60 total planned. Expected completion is June 2019.
- Palmaris longus absence in the Israeli population. The study includes both examination and ultrasound confirmation of patients with absence of one or both palmaris longus tendons.
Status: Started April 2018 with 70 patients enrolled with 800 anticipated. Expected completion December 2018.
- RegenoGel and RegenoGel OSP – injections for knee arthritis. This is a multi-center, prospective, randomized, double-blinded, 3-arm study evaluating 2 active versus one control injection for knee arthritis. This study is supported by Procore.
Status: Study approved April 2018. Nine patients enrolled and doing interim analysis.
- PLX-01 – injection of placental-derived stem cells after hip hemi-arthroplasty performed after a hip fracture. This is a multi-center, multi-national, prospective, double-blinded, randomized 2-arm study. This study follows FDA guidelines and is supported by Pluristem.
Status: Study approved June 2018. Recruiting to begin July 2018.
- 3-D printing of a hand anatomical model for orthopedic resident surgical training. Summer internship with Chad Simon, a US engineering study and supported by Statasys, an international 3D printing corporation. This study will include creation of anatomical model suitable for pinning phalanx and metacarpal fractures then testing in a laboratory setting 2 groups of orthopedic residents.
Status: Internship to begin June 15, 2018. Expected completion of project December 2018.
- Determination of contact pressures and forces needed for activities of daily living. Preliminary study planned prior to grant application.
Status: In planning stage. No funding currently available for preliminary trial.
